What We Build is Deeply Personal at AppsForBharat

For millions of devotees, our products are not just apps but they are a daily companion in moments of faith, reflection, and routine. Our role in that journey is not to shape beliefs, but to support and enable these experiences with care,  responsibility and user obsession.

That’s why hiring carries a different kind of responsibility here

In most companies, hiring directly impacts speed and execution. At AppsForBharat, it also impacts trust. The experiences we build sit close to people’s emotions, traditions, and daily practices. Even small details matter, not because we define those practices, but because we become a part of how they are accessed and experienced digitally. So when we hire, we look beyond just “can this person do the job well?”

We ask:

Will this person build with care, intent, and a deep sense of responsibility toward the user?

Over time, this question has shaped how we approach hiring in ways that aren’t always obvious from the outside. It starts with clarity. Before we even begin speaking to candidates, we spend time internally aligning on what success in the role really looks like. Not just in terms of outcomes, but in terms of the kind of thinking and judgment the role will require. It helps us stay honest about what we’re looking for and just as importantly, what we’re not.

We don’t spend much time on hypothetical scenarios or perfectly structured answers. Instead, we go deeper into what someone has already done. The situations they’ve been in, the choices they’ve made, the trade-offs they’ve had to navigate. These conversations are often less about arriving at the “right” answer and more about understanding how someone thinks when things are unclear or imperfect.

And over time, certain patterns begin to stand out.

We’re drawn to people who take ownership without waiting to be asked. People who can take something complex and bring clarity to it. People who are comfortable moving forward even when all the pieces aren’t in place yet. But alongside all of this, there’s something more subtle that matters just as much: an awareness of the context in which we’re building.

Because the product doesn’t exist in isolation. It sits alongside moments that are already meaningful in someone’s life. And that calls for a certain level of thoughtfulness in how decisions are made and an understanding that sometimes, the smallest details can matter the most.

This sense of care extends to how we run the hiring process itself.

Candidates are investing their time and energy to engage with us, often while navigating multiple opportunities. We try to be mindful of that by showing up prepared, keeping conversations focused, and communicating clearly at every step. In many ways, the experience of interviewing with us should reflect what it feels like to work here. At the same time, we’ve learned that being thoughtful doesn’t mean being slow.

Great candidates don’t stay on the market for long, and long, uncertain processes often end up being a poor experience for everyone involved. So we try to move with intent, closing loops quickly, sharing feedback without unnecessary delays, and ensuring that candidates are never left guessing where they stand.

Hiring here is also deeply collaborative.

It’s not just the responsibility of one team to get it right. Recruiters play a key role in identifying and engaging the right people, while interviewers focus on evaluating with depth and making informed decisions. When both sides are aligned, the process becomes far more effective and far more consistent.

Of course, not everyone we meet will end up joining us. But what stays with people is often the experience itself. Whether they move forward or not, we want every interaction to feel thoughtful, respectful, and clear. Because over time, these moments shape how people understand who we are.

We’re still evolving how we hire. Still learning what works and what doesn’t. But the intent remains the same to bring in people who will approach their work with care, responsibility, and an understanding of the role we play in the lives of our users. And that’s something we try to stay mindful of, every single time we hire.
